Salty Days is a coastal, seafood plus restaurant in Marshfield center. This is the 3rd restaurant owned by Marshfield residents Sean and Joanne McDaniel. The original Salty Days opened briefly in Hingham before moving to Cohasset. The Marshfield restaurant opened mid-June and a new location in Hingham Shipyard will open this year as well.

Salty Days Marshfield renovated the old Station 8/Ocean House Grille to give the interior a lighter, beachy vibe with white shiplap and navy blue walls. The furnishings fit the motif as well with teak looking tables and large navy booths along the out wall of windows.
They say to never try a restaurant in the first month of it opening, but we just couldn’t wait to try Salty Days in Marshfield. They opening a couple of weeks ago and we’ve only heard great things – “The food is excellent”. “We had to wait over an hour last weekend, but it was so worth it”. “The lobster rangoons are to die for”. As a matter of fact we had tried the Cohasset location when they first opened and wish that we waited for the staff to work out their kinks. We could not have had a more opposite experience in Marshfield. Everything was fantastic!
From the minute we walked in for lunch on a Monday, we were met with friendly, happy staff. We were seated in one of the comfy booths and guided through the menu by KJ, our awesome waiter. The menu is large and as expected, heavy on the seafood dishes with a variety of options including raw bar, lobster roll, lobster rangoon, fried fish, shrimp taco bowl, poke bowls, salmon, swordfish, lobster cobb salad and so much more. One entire side of the menu is dedicated to their sushi choices – rolls, nigiri and sashimi. There are plenty of non-seafood options as well, cubano, chicken sandwich, steak frites, chicken milanese and bolognese to name a few.

We wanted to try the lobster roll, but we just had lobster rolls a couple of days ago, so Jim ended up getting the “Crispy Cod Sandwich” and I got the “Shrimp Taco Bowl”. The sandwich was a delicious piece of cornflake crusted cod in a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. Jim chose the coleslaw rather than the fries or watermelon. He thought the coleslaw was “OK” and wished he got the fries. The shrimp taco bowl was huge, filled with brown rice, beans, avocado, mango salsa, corn salad, purple cabbage, cotija cheese, 3-4 grilled shrimp and an aji verde sauce. This was excellent. We tried the lobster rangoons as takeout when my son and daughter-in-law brought them home to us after their dinner last week – fantastic!
We loved our experience at the new Salty Days and can’t wait to go back. We loved the open, airy beach vibe, the outgoing, happy staff, and the food!! There are so many options we would like to try – the lobster roll, lobster cobb, swordfish and sushi.
Until our next adventure,
Patti and Jim
