Asian Fusion Restaurant in Quincy, MA
What a treat! We saw Cloud on one of the Saturday morning restaurant shows that we watch and were intrigued. They showed some of Cloud’s Asian fusion dishes and their exciting smoking dishes that are so Instagram worthy we had to go see for ourselves.
Cloud is tucked into a corner of an L-shaped strip of stores, markets and restaurants, adjacent to Kam Man Foods, an Asian grocery store. When you step into Cloud, your realize this is not the average Asian restaurant. The interior is fairly small but does have a good-sized bar. The décor is industrial but yet pretty with cement walls with rebar sticking out here and there. Tables are separated by black chain metal curtains and greenery, adding to the personality of the place. The bar is very comfortable and trendy.
First, we know we had to try the bling – The Influencer cocktail. This paloma type libation comes to you encased in its own treasure chest. The bar became covered in mysterious smoke when they opened the chest to reveal the drink with it’s pretty flower garnish. This is accomplished with dry ice and colors lights. I think everyone needs to see this once. The Mai Tai was also delicious.
We had an appetizer while sitting at the bar waiting for friends (we were an hour ahead of them, so we wanted a nibble). The lobster Rangoon’s were delicious. There were 5 or 6 to the order, but as usual when we are hungry, we forget to take the picture before digging in.
With our friends, Steve and Debbie, we weren’t sure how to order as we didn’t know what would be a shareable size dish or if the entrees were for individual orders, but our waiter was very helpful navigating us through this. We decided on an appetizer platter – The S & P Combo, to start, but we forgot the picture. This was a rather large platter of salt & pepper calamari, soft shell crab and chicken wings. All were very good. We also ordered a couple of other dishes that struck our fancy. We tried the lettuce wraps that had ground chicken in a scrumptious sauce served with bib lettuce. We also ordered the chicken fried rice and the Cloud Steak which is a rib eye with pea pod leaves and black pepper sauce. Both so good we did not leave a drop behind! Everything was so fresh, and we could tell that the chef takes pride in the food that is prepared.
Next, we ordered the lobster noodles that we knew came served in a unique manner. You can select either fried rice or noodles, we chose the noodles. The lobster comes broken up and the shell cracked for easy eating. The dish is served hanging from a crescent moon holder and has the smoke from the dry ice coming from underneath it. Again, it is something you should see at least once, but the dish itself tasted amazing.
When we first arrived at Cloud, a fire alarm was going off in the neighboring Kam Man market, but since all the buildings are connected, we had to wait until the alarm was cleared before going in. We got to chat with the manager and owner while outside. They were so nice and personable that we can understand why the vibe here is so relaxing. The friendliness of the staff confirmed that this is a nice atmosphere to both work in and visit. We asked the management for a photo opp and Judy was happy to oblige, seen here with Debbie.
Overall, our experience was wonderful. The four of us agreed that the food was outstanding as was the staff. The prices were in line with other restaurants of similar fare other than the splurges which we knowingly took on – the lobster noodles and the Influencer cocktail. The ambience was sophisticated, yet very comfortable. We initially went to Cloud for the bells and whistles, but we will come back for the people and the food!!
Warmest regards,
Patti and Jim
